Student Association - Plattsburgh State University of New York

As the student run government, our mission is to voice the concerns and interests of the students. We provide quality services, programs, and activities in a dynamic and diverse college community. Our vision is to be the most active and visible resource for students and the greater college community. Our core values are the students, education, diversity, and inclusion.

I hope all of you had a great summer vacation. Now, it is time to put our student hats on and pay attention in our courses in order to advance our college careers further. This semester will be a very exciting one. We have a new Provost in charge, Jay Stein, in the Academic Affairs office and we have a new dinning service provider, Chartwell’s, as well. We hope that these changes will ameliorate the services the college provides to our fellow students. There are many changes that have occurred during the summer and more changes in the horizon. For example, to cut back on paper and ink wastage, administrators have established a quota of 300 copies per student. Upon reaching the printing limit, students will be charged. This will be very challenging for some of us but we need to try and cut back on our consumption habits or else we will continue to produce an amount of waste that deeply affects the environment. But that is just one side of what is coming. We have two very important elections this fall, the National Presidential Elections and the elections for the new Student Association officers here on campus. We are trying to register people to vote and also educate students on the issues that the candidates are debating. As for the campus elections, we will have a Meet the Candidates Event for all of us to get to know the candidates. In addition, there will be many activities put together by the Activities Coordination Board and other clubs and organizations ranging from leadership lectures, comedians, dance performances, fund raisers and much more. If you have any questions, swing by the office in the 2nd floor of the ACC. Have a great semester.

Sincerely Yours,
Angel Acosta
