Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa the National Leadership Honor
Society,
The Omicron Delta Kappa Society is the national leadership honor
society for college students, faculty, staff, administrators, and
alumni that recognizes and encourages superior scholarship,
leadership, and exemplary character. Membership in Omicron Delta
Kappa is a mark of the highest distinction and honor.
The Society recognizes achievement in Scholarship, Athletics,
Campus & Community Service, Social & Religious Activities, Campus
Government, Journalism, Speech & the Mass Media, as well as the
Creative & Performing Arts. Emphasis is placed on the
development of the whole person, both as a member of the college
community and as a contributor to a better society.
Omicron Delta Kappa is continually growing in membership and expanding
to establish circles. The Society initiates over 7,000 new members
each year through circles on 240 college and university campuses.
The State University of New York at Plattsburgh Circle was chartered
on May 2, 1981 through the hard work and efforts of eighty-six men and
women, over a period of three years. For the last fifteen years, the
Plattsburgh Circle has had the distinction of initiating many
distinguished members, including National Leaders of the Year, National
Executive Members, and the Immediate Past President. The members of
the Plattsburgh Circle are proud of their heritage and history.
