John Bildstein Photography
For me, photography began with a development of my conscious vision by learning how to be open to and observant of my surroundings. I have taught myself to see and think photographically, even without a camera present. I like to think that my work stops time; it is an observation of a specific moment. That is why extreme qualities of light are strong elements in my work. Light is constantly changing and it will never be the same twice. I am attracted to the physical process of creating a print, whether that process includes the computer, the darkroom, or acid, ink, and printing presses. Process is a technical framework for my ideas. Thinking, editing, and printing are all about process, which is something that I value in both mediums.
