The Handy Car was created by faculty and students of the Computer Science Department at Plattsburgh State University. The design is intended to be a easy to build mobile robot for use in a wide variety of computer science courses. The Handy Car design is centered around the Handy Board, developed by Fred Martin a former professor at MIT. The design is simplified by use of a quality remote controlled (R/C) car base, and many off-the-shelf parts obtainable at local hardware stores.
This web page provides assembly and technical information for the robot mentioned in Facilitating Active Learning With Inexpensive Mobile Robots, written by Professor Stephen Linder of Plattsburgh State University. A copy of this paper is available for download in .pdf format.
